This antibody needs to be stored at + 4°C in a fridge short term in a concentrated dilution. Freeze thaw will destroy a percentage in every cycle and should be avoided.
A 1:1000 dilution of SPC-1286 was sufficient for detection of Smad4 in 10 µg of HeLa, Cos7, HepG2, HUVEC cell lysates by ECL immunoblot analysis using Goat Anti-Rabbit IgG:HRP as the secondary antibody.

Members of the Smad family of cell signaling molecules are components of a critical intracellular pathway that transmit TGF-β signals from the cell surface into the nucleus. There are three distinct classes of Smads: the receptor-regulated Smads (R-Smads), the common-mediator Smad (co-Smad), and the antagonistic or inhibitory Smads. Smad4 mediates all activities through interaction with various other Smad family members.

Polyclonals can be used for Western blot, immunohistochemistry on frozen slices or parrafin fixed tissues. The advantage is that there are more epitopes available in a polyclonal antiserum to detect the proteins than in monoclonal sera.Rabbits are used for polyclonal antibody production by StressMark antibodies.
