Antigen

Antibody produced in rabbits immunized with a synthetic peptide corresponding a region of human SMAD6.

Suspention, pH, azide

Antibody is lyophilized in PBS buffer with 2% sucrose. Add 200 μL of distilled water. Final antibody concentration is 1 mg/mL.

Properties

If you buy Antibodies supplied by proscience they should be stored frozen at - 24°C for long term storage and for short term at + 5°C.

Description

This antibody needs to be stored at + 4°C in a fridge short term in a concentrated dilution. Freeze thaw will destroy a percentage in every cycle and should be avoided.

Keep at

For short periods of storage (days) store at 4 grades C. For longer periods of storage, store SMAD6 antibody at -20 grades C. As with any antibody avoid repeat freeze-thaw cycles.

Antibody advice

SMAD6 antibody can be used for detection of SMAD6 by ELISA at 1:62500. SMAD6 antibody can be used for detection of SMAD6 by western blot at 0.5-1.0 ug/mL, and HRP conjugated secondary antibody should be diluted 1:50,000 - 100,000.

Gene info

SMAD6 (mothers against decapentaplegic homolog 6) is an antagonist of signaling by TGF-beta (transforming growth factor) type 1 receptor superfamily members; has been shown to inhibit selectively BMP (bone morphogenetic proteins) signaling by competing with the co-SMAD SMAD4 for receptor-activated SMAD1. SMAD6 is an inhibitory SMAD (I-SMAD) or antagonistic SMAD.
